Born and raised in Laverlochère, Quebec, Michel Denomme has spent most of his life around trucks, competition, and hard work. At just 19 years old, he purchased his first transport truck in 1991, beginning a journey that would eventually establish him as both a successful business owner and a respected truck racing competitor.
Inspired by his brother, Mario Denomme, Michel entered the trucking industry at a young age. What started as a career quickly grew into a lifelong passion. In 1997, he founded MD Express, building the company through dedication, determination, and countless miles on the road.
Michel’s introduction to truck racing came in 1992 after attending the local truck rodeo in Notre-Dame-du-Nord. Originally entering for fun and intrigued by the competition, he quickly discovered a love for the sport that would last decades. In the early years, racers were simply assigned a number for the day, but Michel’s competitive spirit remained constant.
Over the years, Michel has accumulated an impressive collection of 63 trophies, a testament to his skill behind the wheel and commitment to the sport. Among his proudest accomplishments are multiple first-place finishes in Bobtail, Loaded, and Free-for-All events.
In 2018, Michel advanced to the highly competitive A Class division, continuing to challenge himself against some of the best drivers in the sport. His passion for racing extends beyond the trophies and competition. One of his favorite memories is introducing new people to the excitement of truck racing by taking them for rides in his legendary C15-powered truck.
When he’s not on the road or at the racetrack, Michel enjoys spending time on his farm caring for cattle and other animals. Family also plays a major role in his racing life. Racing has become a true family tradition, with Andre competing in Michel’s truck “Savage” in A Class, his brother Denis racing in C Class, and his nephew Alain also competing in C Class.
Today, Michel proudly represents sponsors including Ateliers Pro Diesel, DTI, and Tech 41. While the trophies and victories are rewarding, what keeps him returning to the racetrack year after year is the unique community surrounding the sport.
“Racing is like having a whole second family. Even the competition, we’re family and friends. We’re just not quite as close between the start and finish line.”
As he looks to the future, Michel’s goal remains simple: continue competing for as long as possible, enjoy every moment, and keep striving for excellence.
To his fans and supporters, Michel has a message:
“Thank you for liking and sharing the videos and photos. Aim for the gold, have fun, and always remember, even if you don’t finish first, at least you finished.”
